Treatment Plant Permit
We can help you apply for a treatment plant permit from the Environment Agency if you need to apply in order to discharge effluent into a surface water system or to groundwater. In order to apply for either a standard rules or bespoke environmental permit from the EnvironmentAgency you will need to complete a number of risk assessments and feasibility studies in order to ensure that the application will be “duly Made”.
We have successfully applied for and obtained effluent treatment plant permits for a number of clients. This has included groundwater monitoring for discharges to groundwater as well as surface water modelling for dispersion for discharges to surface water. You will need to submit a groundwater risk assessment if you discharge to soakaway.
Permits to discharge to surface water are straight forward. Permits for discharging to groundwater tend to be more complex. For the latter you will need to complete a groundwater risk assessment and several other surveys.
Water discharge permits are taking the EA a while to process. Currently you should allow up to a year or more. If you can find a standard rules permit that suits your needs. Then this may be a little quicker. It is illegal to discharge any pollutant to controlled
waters without the required permit. If you have already tried to do an application yourself. If you find the process confusing, then call us in the first instance. We have submitted many applications both large and small.
