Fire Prevention Plan Guidance Updated

Paul Downing

Updated guidance on how to produce a fire prevention plan to accompany environmental permit applications is expected end of July 2016. The new guidance is expected to be slightly more flexible than the current guidance dated March 2015, in that it allows for alternative methods of fire prevention to be proposed to those stipulated in the current guidance.

FPP’s have been causing a lot of waste management companies issues with compliance and the withdraw or refusal of environmental permit applications. We are hoping that the new guidance and the EA start to take business concerns and financial imperatives into account as the current status does not help to promote genuine waste businesses in the UK.
