When considering costs related to environmental permitting you will also need to include

• Planning application costs – most waste businesses need the correct planning consents as well
• Ongoing regulatory costs – The EA charge an annual subsistence fee for operating under a permit
• WAMITAB and competence training costs – to operate a waste business you need appropriately trained staff – This is a condition of the environmental permit
• Insurance costs
• Equipment and ongoing compliance costs – The EA will require that your site has the correct fire prevention equipment for a waste recycling business

Environment Agency fees have not changed since 2022 and it is expected that the charging document listing all of the application and subsistence fees will be updated soon.
