Become A Registered ATF

Become a registered ATF (Authorised Treatment Facility) in the UK. You will need to apply to the Environment Agency for an Environmental Permit. Once you have this ELV (end of life vehicles) permit you can buy CAT B cars. This can be from CoParts and other auction houses.

Even when you have the permit (some 6-10 months later) there are still several other hoops you need to jump through.

Once you become a registered ATF you will appear in the Environment Agency’s ATF register. This unfortunately is only updated once a month or so. CoParts will only accept you onto their bidding plaform as an ATF once you appear on this register. Even though you already have a permit. Some clients have expressed frustration at waiting several months for a permit from the EA. Then still having to wait to be entered in to the ATF register.

CoParts also require that you provide the first year subsistence invoice for your environmental permit from the EA to prove you have a permit. This may also take several weeks to come through once the permit is issued causing further frustration.

Getting your ELV permit is the main element to become a registered ATF. However, as you can see above there are still other elements to complete once you receive your permit.
